8 End of the Year Activities for the Last Days of Kindergarten

The calendar is filled to the max with assessments, talent shows, field day and awards ceremonies. The classroom is alive with excited children who are daydreaming about their days, splashing in the pool and eating popsicles with their friends.

It must be the end of the year in kindergarten! You need some fun activities to help you fill in those days on the calendar! Try some of these activities:

  • do a STEM challenge.

  • have a talent show,

  • spend time outside with bubbles or chalk.

Have a Glow in the Dark Dance Party

Snap the glow sticks and flip off the lights. Get ready to watch the smiles of your students light up your dark classroom.

Your students will love breaking it down with their besties to their favorite Kid Bop tunes.

A few packages of glow sticks from The Dollar Tree is one of the best end of the year investments that you could make!

Have Lunch Outside

Before the summer sun gets too hot, take your students outside to soak up the sun during lunch.

Pack a pb&j and your favorite chips, stretch out the beach towel and enjoy the sweet conversations with your students. Your students will love making memories with you and their friends.

Do a STEM Challenge

Get out your building blocks or crafting supplies and do a STEM challenge!

A STEM challenge is great for the end of the year because the process can be extended across multiple days.

One of my favorite STEM challenges to complete with my students is a community STEM challenge. Students work in small groups to plan and design a community for the mayor.

Using the engineering design process, students work together to build a community. Each group has a checklist that is used to ensure that the community has the essentials for the people living there. It is truly amazing to see the creativity and problem-solving that takes place through STEM.

Have a Talent Show

After spending so much time with your students, you are bound to have seen many of their hidden talents.

Put those talents to good use and put on a show!

Push back the tables and charge your microphone. Create a schedule for each act. Recruit someone you know will make the perfect MC.

Get ready for some laughs and fun memories. Don’t forget to record some acts for your end of the year video!

Make a Summer Countdown

Start the summer countdown! You can count down the days left of school with a number or alphabet countdown.

You can use balloons as a visual reminder for your students. Each morning, pop a balloon and complete a fun activity to mark each passing day.

Explore the Ocean

Dive under the sea and explore more about the high-interest topic of the ocean.

Students love learning all about the amazing creatures that are living in different zones of the ocean.

Students can create ocean dioramas to demonstrate their new learning.

Have a Class Carnival

Throw together some random items from the depths of your cabinets to make some simple carnival games.

In the morning, we complete carnival themed reading and math activities.

In the afternoon, I transform the room into a classroom carnival. Students volunteer to run the games while other students spend the tickets that they earned throughout the day.

The carnival is hands down one of my favorite memories with my students.
